It is 6 pm on the third night of Navratri. The aarti starts at 7. You open the wardrobe, and the question is the same as last night: what do I wear tonight?
Most of us solve Navratri one evening at a time. A saree bought in a hurry, a repeat from last year, a last-minute compromise because the one you wanted is still at the tailor. Nine nights become nine small decisions, and by the fifth night the joy has turned into logistics.
We think Navratri deserves a plan, not a scramble. So we designed one.
Nine designs, one collection
Nava Jyoti means "nine lights". It is a collection of nine organza sarees, each carrying a borderless mandala print, each in a different festive mood. They are designed to work together, so the whole festival feels like one story rather than nine separate outfits.
Every saree is feather-light organza, 5.5 metres with a blouse piece, designed in Hyderabad.
Meet the nine
- Tarini: a sunlit mandala in saffron and marigold, made for Navratri mornings.
- Jamuna: violet, blue and emerald. The whole saree is the statement.
- Chandrika: ivory and gold, as soft as moonlight. For pujas and festive lunches.
- Neelima: cobalt blue with a flash of red, made for Garba nights.
- Shyamali: earthy maroon, olive and gold, with sacred geometry. For intimate gatherings.
- Kumudini: rich festive red, rose and green that walks in with confidence.
- Sandhya: evening blue-grey, quietly striking. For festive dinners.
- Ranjani: jewel-tone magenta that owns the room.
- Aruna: coral and sunrise orange, made for daylight celebrations.
How to plan your nine nights
You do not need all nine. Most people build their festival around three or four pieces and repeat with different jewellery and blouses. A simple way to choose:
- One for the mornings: something light and bright, like Tarini or Aruna.
- One for Garba: something that moves and catches the light, like Neelima or Jamuna.
- One for the puja: something calm and graceful, like Chandrika or Shyamali.
